The strong cold front that was mentioned in the last overview will sweep through on Wednesday evening, with torrential rains and wind speeds between 40-55mph. Some winds over Long island and coastal New Jersey may well exceed 55mph during the passage of the heaviest rains.
As if this weren’t enough, the spring-like nature of the system may yield an isolated thunderstorm during the heaviest rainfall.
If it’s any consolation, the onset of the worst of the weather looks to arrive very late in the evening commute for west of the city, pushing eastward after 8pm and continuing through 2-3am before abating.
The previous overview is basically on track.
Dry, but much colder, blustery weather settles in for the weekend, with abundant cloud cover. An exception may occur Saturday night; a weak storm system still has a chance to offer a shot at some light snow for the region, particularly near the coast.
