STUBBORN COASTAL STORM ALREADY BEGINNING TO WANE....

The various forecast models have handled the evolution of the season's first nor'easter very poorly, as the bulk of the rainfall has been stationary over the central Mid-Atlantic states all day today...

A large dome of high pressure has kept the column of air dry enough in the mid levels of the atmosphere, so that precip could not break out and become heavy as was expected. This trend should persist through Saturday morning, leaving the area with far less in the way of rainfall amounts

OUTLOOK FROM TUESDAY VIDEO:

NEW IDEA:

The rate of rainfall should be light to occasionally moderate through Saturday morning, before the threat of rain diminishes by saturday afternoon. In fact, although it will be somewhat cloudy, the area should be virtually rain-free the entire weekend.

The rainfall idea here was based off of a blend of meteorologist Lee Goldberg (ABC 7) from Friday and NWS Mount Holly, NJ, with a slight weight towards NWS New York for timing and winds.

WINDS from Monday night into Tuesday morning could gust as high as 30mph from the south

By late week, another storm should develop over the eastern coastal waters. The models are just catching this now, with some bringing the storm south of the region, and others with more of a northern track. The timing would be Saturday afternoon into Sunday as far as rain and some wind. The biggest impact would be if the storm could deliver some needed rain across the region, but this remains to be seen.
