ALL-TIME SEASONAL SNOWFALL RECORD IN CENTRAL PARK IN JEOPARDY OF BEING TIED OR BROKEN
The overall pattern next week will feature a potent winter storm, followed by very cold weather through next week.
A volatile set up will spawn a major, coast-to-coast storm early next week.
This storm has the potential to dump more than 6 inches of new snow on our region, especially from Monday into Monday night.
It should be noted that, as of right now, the numerical guidance has been in very good agreement on this particular storm; in contrast, throughout this season, storm details on the various weather models (track, intensity and precip type) were very elusive in the run-up to other notable snow events, but got more in tune within 48-72 hours of the first effects on our region.

While light snows may develop on Sunday evening, the bulk of the snow will occur from the storm Monday into Monday night before ending. The ultimate track of the storm will determine if ice and rain mix in at the coast, but right now, this appears to be a low probability at this time.

Regardless of the impact to our region, the storm will take a SEVERE toll on airport travel across the country.
More later.
