BEWARE THE FALSE IDOL OF AN EARLY SPRING!

Daylight savings time begins March 8

1. Some clouds linger overnight Saturday night/Sunday, keeping temps steady in the upper 20s/low 30s. Temps rise into the 40s for much of the week for highs. Warmest day is Wednesday when reading may challenge 50F.

2. Ice will begin to break down across the area rivers and streams this week; this could cause local flooding as well as damage to nearby croplands.

3. Other than some light rain on Tuesday afternoon and night, no significant precipitation is expected through Friday and possibly a bit beyond.

4. Strong signs in the long term point towards a reluctant spring (as was the case last year). It is common for winters with a weak El Nino to last well into March.
