AN UNSETTLED BEGINNING TO AUGUST NOT YET SET IN STONE
Clouds and humidity will build into the area starting tomorrow. Scattered showers and storms will be possible everywhere on Thursday during the mid-morning and continuing through late afternoon before the threat dies down at night. The lowest chance overall of showers will be for eastern LI/eastern CT.
For Friday, we’ll experience more of the same, with the emphasis on the best chance of showers north and west of the city and coast. Once again, cloud cover will dominate.
Saturday and Sunday are problematic in the exact timing and placement of any organized, heavy rainfall. There is enough model disagreement to suggest that another update will be needed; however, it should be noted that this weekend will NOT be a complete washout. The best chance for widespread rain will be Saturday morning before we remain dry through much of Saturday afternoon and night.
WPC: 500mb Pattern Saturday 7am 8/2/14 |
Conditions will be driest away from the coast on Sunday as an offshore front hangs around and keeps the threat of showers around in the afternoon.
Residual chances for showers and storms will be in the cards for Monday before things clear out for Tuesday through Thursday of next week.
