MID-WEEK WARMTH WILL RESEMBLE LATE JULY-LIKE TEMPS
1. Becoming windy this evening, with a shot of Canadian air working in. Temps fall into the 50s tonight on a gusty wind.
2. Monday: A cool day, with winds diminishing. Clouding up Monday night into Tuesday, with a few showers possible during this time, especially away from the coast.
3. Tuesday/Wednesday: Temps rapidly increase in the city and points west. The coastal sections may be more cloudy on Tuesday (preventing maximum warming there), but everyone gets into the warmth for sure on Wednesday. Humidity will noticeably increase as well. Rain chances are low this time frame.
4. Thursday: Warm and humid, with cloud cover building anew. Good chance for afternoon/evening thunderstorms as a strong cold front moves in. Storms could be strong based on plenty of humidity and cold front working in tandem. Bears watching.
5. Friday through the weekend: Fair skies, with very cool temps coming in again. Saturday night could be quite cool, with readings getting down into the 30s in the areas north and west of NYC, with some upper 40s even to the coast.
6. Tropics: Not one storm has become a hurricane in the 2013 season up to this date. There have been only seven other seasons with no hurricanes in the Atlantic basin until after September 11th since 1850. Two of those seasons had no hurricanes (1914 and 1907).

LABOR DAY LAMENTATION
The overall pattern going into next week will remain the same as it’s been for the entire month of August; a stifling heat wave that has taken place over the mid-west will reposition itself further west.
So while it gets muggy all weekend long into Monday around our region, no widespread heat above 90 degrees ever makes it in. In fact, NYC will only have one 90-degree day all month long.

The combination of the humidity and the fast flowing jet stream nearby will result in showers and storms becoming increasingly widespread by Sunday and especially into Monday.
The first sections to be under the gun will be the interior, with the coast and city getting in on the action Sunday and again Monday. Right now, the most likely time for showers and storms would be Monday for all areas. Flooding of roads is the biggest concern with any one storm acting on all of that humidity available in the atmosphere. A period of widespread heavy rainfall looks likely Monday afternoon and night with the passage of the main cold front
Tuesday and Wednesday are much drier, with lower humidity values.
This is the quietest run-up to Labor Day in the tropics in a long time; Nevertheless, the tropics are starting to get active, with a very active September likely.
